Beginners' Courses and Improvement for Dinghy and Cruiser Sailing Escala
This introductory level is aimed at determining student levels by means of a colour-coded scheme. The emphasis is on basic sail craft leading to training on larger yachts with RYA qualifications. Safe sailing from Escala in protected waters in the Bay Of Rosas we sail all year in the warm Mediterranean sunshine. Click below for more information.

Boat: Children: (Optimist) Youth (RACE-X and Europe) Adults (Laser, 420 and Vision) / Cruiser
Methodology: Practice of courses and regatta tactics, racing rules, sail settings, trapeze and manoeuvres with spinnakers.

RYA Start Sailing
A 2 day course onboard a Cruising Yacht with overnight in Escala Marina. Students will be taught how to Crew on a larger 36 foot sailing yacht, how to trim sails, helm and experience big boat handling at sea. This course leads to a RYA Certificate Start Sailing and is open to all ages.

RYA Competent Crew
A 5 day course (or 2 weekends) onboard a Cruising Yacht (3 days if Start Sailing has been completed). Students will be taught how to Crew on a larger 36 foot sailing yacht, how to trim sails, helm, understand all points of sail, rope work and knots, basic boat maintenance, and experience big boat handling at sea. This course leads to a RYA Certificate Competent Crew and is open to all ages. This course will enable the student to crew on any vessel power or sail. Includes 2 - 4 hours of night sailing.

RYA Day Skipper

Students will be taught how to manage the Crew on a larger 36 foot sailing yacht, how to moor alongside, berth in the marina, anchor, pick up a mooring buoy under power and sail, basic navigation and manage a large yacht at sea. This course leads to a RYA Day Skipper Certificate. Students should have a good understanding of basic navigation, or attended our RYA Day Skipper Theory Course.
A 5 day course onboard a Cruising Yacht. Students will be taught how to manage the Crew on a larger 36 foot sailing yacht, how to moor alongside, berth in the marina, anchor, pick up a mooring buoy under power and sail, basic navigation and manage a large yacht at sea. This course leads to a RYA Day Skipper Certificate. Students should have a good understanding of basic navigation, or attended our RYA Day Skipper Theory Course.
